VICTORY IN VENICE

Sail your way to the Piano Hall of Central Chidlom from 1-15 June 2012 as Corum presents French Energy Team’s Victory in Venice. Celebrate Energy Team’s first major victory in the America’s Cup World Series with these new limited edition watches and BaselWorld 2012 novelties from Corum.

Corum is truly proud of the Energy Team, France’s official challenger for the 34th America’s Cup, winning the fifth Fleet Race Championship held in Venice. Loïck Peyron, who is back at the helm in this race, led the crew of Yann Guichard, Christophe André, Arnaud Jalergan, Devan Lebihan and Arnaud Pasrofaghis to victory in an incredible finish eight seconds ahead of the American defender Oracle Spithill. “It is the attention to details, precision and proficiency that made the difference,” says CEO Antonio Calce of Corum, the official timekeeper of the triumphant team.

Ambition, forward thinking and fast response – these are the principles behind the French challenger that brought them on top of the podium. Corum shares the same principles in achieving success confirmed by its top class ability. Sailing and Corum is a story of enduring passion. Watchmaker Corum has long been a prestigious supporter of skilled sailors dating back when Corum founder René Bannwart named the first square water-resistant watch in the collection “Admiral’s Cup.”

Corum – Victory in Venice event highlights magnificent timepieces from the legendary Admiral’s Cup collection and some new limited edition watches.

In the ski world where performances are also timed to the nearest hundredth of a second comes a watch that echoes precision and technical mastery – Admiral’s Cup 44 Chrono Centro Didier Cuche. This dedicated watch pays tribute to six-time ski world champion and Corum’s ambassador Didier Cuche. Issued in a limited 100-piece edition, the Didier Cuche echoes the sporting nature of the skiing legend created in a black vulcanized rubber case and strap. This sporty watch features a Didier Cuche face motif on tapestry pattern dial and grey sapphire open back.

Brimming with energy, the Didier Cuche is powered by self-winding CO960 movement that is chronometer-certified by the COSC with functions: hours, minutes, small seconds, date, and chronograph with minutes and seconds indication in the center. Precision and technical mastery, a watch built for extreme sports, the Admiral’s Cup Didier Cuche.

Another unique watch that evokes the world of sailing is the Admiral’s Cup Legend 42 Annual Calendar. This watch is created with Corum’s desire to offer a model with a powerful visual identity while focusing on the essentials. Bearing the collection’s signature feature, a twelve-sided bezel adorned with 12 nautical pennants, the Annual Calendar comes with a calendar function in addition to the hours, minutes and seconds. The watch indicates the date around the dial by means of an openworked hand and the month through a snailed aperture at 6 o’clock. This stellar model requires just one adjustment per year every end of February as it automatically takes account of 30- and 31-day months. Providing year-round elegance and reliability, the Annual Calendar is powered by automatic CO53 movement with 42-hour power reserve.

Celebrate the passion of time with Admiral’s Cup Annual Calendar. Issued in a limited annual production run of 25 in 18K red gold and 150 in steel, the Annual Calendar is fitted in a black crocodile leather strap with a pin buckle for the gold variation and with a clasp for the steel version.

In 1956, Corum turned the tide of history announcing the arrival of this new watch company with Chargé d’Affaires. This year at the BaselWorld 2012, Corum goes back to its roots with a reissue of this classic masterpiece. Chargé d’Affaires, as the name implies, is mainly created for its alarm system which has a clear tone that lasts for ten seconds. This vintage watch, powered by Caliber A. Schild 1475, has a manual winding movement, 46-hour power reserve and hour, minute and second functions. This limited reproduction comes in a 39mm 18K white gold case and leather strap with a commemorative bridge on the back linking the past to the present.
