GLAMOROUS HAUTE HORLOGERIE FROM BASELWORLD
3-15 May 2012 at The Peninsula Plaza in Bangkok: CORUM brings Basel to Bangkok with an exhibition of its latest models recently introduced at the BASELWORLD 2012. One of the top highlights is the new Admiral’s Cup Legend 38 Mystery Moon, the first feminine watch with a jumping moon-phase function and a rotating dial.
CORUM – BASEL IN BANGKOK is set to take place on May 3 to 15 at the Atrium of The Peninsula Plaza. The event is to feature 2012 Novelties from CORUM’s two pillars – Admiral’s Cup and Bridges.
Glamorous Haute Horlogerie is the new paradigm defined by the latest addition to the Legend line, the Admiral’s Cup Legend 38 Mystery Moon, the first feminine watch with a jumping moon-phase function and a rotating dial. This exceptional feminine model features an endlessly spinning genuine mother-of-pearl dial carrying the sun and moon. Within the twelve-sided case, which is adorned with CORUM’s 12 iconic nautical pennants that indicate the hours 1 to 12 in maritime signaling code, a moon-phase display and a sunburst date indication play a fascinating game of chase without ever catching up with each other.
For over 50 years, the Admiral’s Cup watch has stood as the brand’s tribute to the maritime world of adventure. Today, this iconic collection is also interpreted in a more demure line – Legend – featuring a slimmer stature and more rounded edges, CORUM’s answer to the growing demand for more classic and softer watch designs without renouncing the identity of this emblematic collection.
At this show, CORUM introduces a second important addition to the Admiral’s Cup line, which appeals to the technical aficionado.
The Admiral’s Cup Legend 42 Annual Calendar represents the excellence of classical watchmaking. This new model provides year-round elegance and reliability. Crafted in a limited annual production run of 25 in red gold and 150 in steel, this stellar model celebrates the passion of time.
The Annual Calendar owes its name to an indicator that shows the month – January to December – in the 6 o’clock segment of the dial. Furthermore, apart from the hours, minutes and seconds, the dates – 1 to 31 – are arranged around the dial circumference and indicated by means of an openworked hand.
The leather strap comes fitted with a folding clasp for the steel version and with a pin buckle for the gold variation.
No CORUM exhibition will ever be complete without a special highlight of CORUM’s most classic and unique creation, the Golden Bridge.
Last year CORUM stunned the watch world with its introduction of the very first ever linear-winding automatic version of the CORUM baguette-shaped movement in the Golden Bridge Automatic.
The automatic variation is presented in 18 karat red or in 18 karat white gold and is produced in limited quantities. The gold color of the case matches the gold color used for the mainplate and bridges – incidentally the only watch in the market with such a valuable and distinguishing feature.
Fans of CORUM of course know that the Golden Bridge is not the only linear movement that CORUM builds in-house, but that more recently the brand has developed a new contemporary interpretation of the bridge movement.
The second in-house bridge movement is the Ti-Bridge. In this recent caliber and contrary to the vertical arrangement of the Golden Bridge, the movement is mounted in the case horizontally and is made of titanium.
New to the Ti-Bridge collection is this year’s Ti-Bridge Power Reserve. And in an exceptional effort, CORUM’s Caliber CO107 hand-wound baguette movement in titanium is surrounded by a case made of precious 18 karat red gold. This linear time concept and top-flight mechanics are blended with ultimate aesthetic appeal. Completely new to Caliber CO107 is the development of a power-reserve indicator coated with luminescent material that allows the wearer to read the indicator even in the dark.
The Ti-Bridge Power Reserve is fitted with a crocodile leather strap secured by a gold triple folding clasp with two safety pushers. Issued in a 50-piece limited numbered edition, the Ti-Bridge Power Reserve perfectly exemplifies CORUM’s continuous pursuit to create ever more audacious watches.
The above four exceptional timepieces and more new developments of CORUM’s flagship lines, as well as a vintage re-edition of one of CORUM’s very early watches await you at this year’s
