“Broadway” epitomizes the two main forms of Greek drama: Comedy and Tragedy. The two characters – happyness and melancholy – are represented by two adjacent masks carved of different colored natural gemstones or Mother-of-Pearl, and mounted in an 18 Karat white or yellow gold ring decorated with brilliant-cut Diamonds and Rubies or Sapphires. The impressions “Comedy” and “Tragedy” are engraved on the side of the ring.
The natural gemstones used for the masks are Lapis Lazuli, Turquoise, Nephrite, Black Jade and Mother-of-Pearl. Stefan Klein of Germany is the master carver who created the miniature faces using various materials. Careful attention was given to match up a happy and a sad mask exactly, so that no gap appears between the two gems.

Comedy and tragedy are key elements of ancient Greek drama developed 2500 years ago. They reverberate in opera, theatre and modern drama, film, and television. The central aspects are success and failure, happiness and suffering, which are common facets of everyday life.
As such, the ring is a reflection on the very basic truths of life. Apart from its stunning attraction, this jewelry conveys the core characters of theatre and signals individual strength in recognizing and coping with profound human emotions.
“Broadway” is part of the CADEAUX JEWELRY “Cult – Jewelry without Fear” collection. It is available from CADEAUX JEWELRY at Peninsula Plaza, 153 Rajadamri Road, Bangkok, telephone 02 653 1909.
